Short Stories
In ELA we have started a new unit called short stories. In this unit we are reading and discussing short stories. We have read two so far, one which you may have heard of, The Hockey Sweater, and another called The Lady In The Cave. For each story we made a prediction about what we thought the story was about. Then we looked at the pictures and we discussed what we saw and asked questions about the pictures. We do writing assignments to test comprehension.

A few weeks ago in cooking enrichment we made ham and egg cups for "breakfast". This is the recipe:
1 slice of deli ham per cup

Spray cooking spray into the egg cups you are going to use. Put a slice of ham in each cup. Crack an egg into each cup. Cook in the oven until the eggs are as soft or hard as you like. Put cheese on top and put back in oven until melted.

Oreos!
How were Oreos created? Well in 1898 several baking companies merged to form the National Biscuit Company. In 1912 they had the idea to make a cookie with 2 sides to it, with icing in the middle. So how did the Oreo get it's name you ask? Well we don't know for sure. Some people say it's because the first Oreo box was gold and the French word for gold is or. Others believe it's because they took the r-e from cream and stuck it in the middle of the two o's in chocolate. Regardless of how it got it's name, Oreos are popular all over the world.
