Coordinate Plane

The coordinate plane is used to graph ordered pairs.  When you are graphing numbers, x always comes before y.  When reading, writing or graphing ordered pairs, you need to make sure you put them in the right order, otherwise it could be confused.  Ex.  (2,6): 2 is the x number, 6 is the y number.

  You need to use capitals when:
1.  It is the first word in a sentence.
2.  It is the first word of a direct quote.
3.  It is the first, last, or an important word in the title of a book, poem, story or song.
4.  It is an abbreviation of a person's title (Dr., Ms., Mrs., Mr).
5.  It is a person's title (Mayor, Premier)
6.  It is an abbreviation of a day, month, part of address, postal code etc.

Ratios

 A ratio is a comparison of 2 numbers.  You can write ratios in 3 ways: ratio form- 8:5, word form- 8 to 5, and fraction form- 8/5.  An equivalent ratio is when 2 ratios are equal- 1:4, 2:8.
